Out of the Cocoon We Come!

The part of the prompt that asked if any of my pandemic changes have lasted………not a question to ask this Introvert! The Pandemic time was a frightful time for this senior household. My husband met every high risk factor! We were in the house for the duration! We went to get vaccinations, but, other than that, my dude was in house! I did grocery shopping with double mask; utilized Instacart; fell in love with Zoom; FaceTime and phone calls were part of the day! We followed church services from around the globe! Denomination did not matter, although our Catholic Mass was also found, along with beautiful YouTube Rosary videos! This Introvert was content! Nirvana! My Extrovert hubby, not so much! But, Zoom and FaceTime did wonders for him.

Post Pandemic finds us still being cautious! Masks are worn at hospitals, MD offices, large crowds, etc. We still love Zoom and FaceTime. My daughter and I still have morning coffee and FaceTime on the occasional Sunday. Precious moments! We still love the YouTube Rosary. Our parish still offers live Mass on YouTube.

Hubby is delighted to get out, especially after having a pacemaker put in. Lots more energy to go, go, go! 😃

Me? I truly could be a recluse and be happy! But, I’m also smart enough to know that my brain will thrive better with some in-person socialization. So, we are working our way back across the threshold at church; signed up to be of assistance to our parish SVdP conference, and the monthly in-person KofC parish breakfast!

Our Faith and prayer life deepened during our time at home and continues to grow (much in part due to our OEF family and our dear friends of faith)!

There is that part of me that misses that time spent in the cocoon (my cats miss that time with Humama as well)! I don’t miss the news announcing the daily Covid death tolls! I don’t miss watching the exhausted faces and tears of the healthcare professionals! I don’t miss the toxic battles between the “vaxers and the nonvaxers”!

I Praise our Creator every day for the Grace and Mercy that continues to reign down on humanity, especially as we step into a Hallelujah Easter moment! Out of darkness and pain, comes light and hope! May your Triduum weekend be one of reconciliation, following the path to Calvary and the Tomb, and finally Rejoicing in the Light of Life and Salvation! Amen

  1. Likewise an introvert, I know what you mean. Thank you for all this praise and hope!
